What is the relationship between the Philippines and other places once colonized by spain?
We don’t speak the same language, even as Tagalog (and many other Filipin@ dialects) has many, many Spanish loan words.
You can see some shared history and culture (Catholicism being a really big one).
There are, of course, many differences.
I always wish that there was some way to… I don’t know, recognize this shared past. Or whatever. To explore and see how we are similar (or different).
It just never seems to come up in places that I access.
(This is just me pondering. I have nothing definitive to say about this. Just a lot of questions and curiosity.)
